In the event of a fire it is essential to encourage the escape of smoke and heat to reduce the risk of intoxication and accidents due to the outflow of people, and facilitate first aid and emergency operations. At floor level, the VERTICAL MENOFUMO creates a smoke-free layer at floor level. In addition to being an effective smoke and heat exhaust system, it can be used daily as an indoor ventilation system.

The standard specifies the requirements and testing procedures for natural smoke and heat exhaust systems intended for installation as components in smoke and heat control systems.

OPENING SYSTEMS
The NSHES is opened by moving a pressurised CO2 powered cylinder, contained in a canister installed on the mechanism itself. The opening pulse is controlled by the breakage of the HEAT-SENSITIVE VIAL calibrated at a preset temperature (68°/93°141°/182°), also installed on the mechanism, or a centralised pneumatic system, or by a PYROTECHNIC OR ELECTROMAGNETIC ACTUATOR controlled by a control unit. These actuators break the heat-sensitive vial upon receiving a pulse from the central control unit.

SHUTTERS WITH THERMAL BREAK PROFILES
The thermal break profiles and shutter are made of 65mm natural 6060 aluminium alloy. The two frames are joined together by means of aluminium hinges with stainless steel pins and EPDM gaskets to ensure a perfect closing.

SHUTTERS WITH COLD DRAWN PROFILES
The cold drwan profiles and shutter are made of 45mm natural 6060 aluminium alloy. The two frames are joined together by means of aluminium hinges with stainless steel pins and EPDM gaskets to ensure a perfect closing.

Daily ventilation
Easy Air is an innovative opening system with a sole electric actuator and a double levering system.
This accessory allows the VERTICAL MENOFUMO to be used as a normal openable skylight.

Inspection and maintenance
As provided for by the regulations in force, the VERTICAL MENOFUMO must be able to be inspected from the outside for ordinary maintenance. This operation must be performed with the removable release lever.
Important: MAINTENANCE must be carried out in accordance with the existing UNI 9494 – 3 standard.

Headwind test
The EN 12101-2:2004 standard in force allows to classify the NSHES installed vertically on walls. The standard takes into account the quality tests that on walls the NSHES can be subjected to headwind, which can make the discharge coefficient negative: this means that the wind blows the smoke back inside. The consequence of this consideration is that for the correct operation of a wall-mounted smoke and heat exhaust system, the NSHES must be installed on at least two walls with different orientations so as to always have one upwind side and one downwind side.
On each of the two walls there must be a number of SHES that guarantees the total useful surface area calculated for the operation of the system, by mounting double the number of necessary exhaust systems
